MOQ is not one fixed number. Product validation, production setup, packaging and freight each create a different practical minimum.
MOQ means minimum order quantity, but the number only makes sense when the supply model is clear. A supplier may support a small technical order in an unbranded pouch while requiring a larger run for a custom blend, printed packaging or an export shipment. Treat each stage as a separate commercial decision.

Why suppliers need an MOQ
- Production cleaning, setup and quality release happen even for a small run.
- Food-grade inner packs and cartons are purchased in standard configurations.
- Batch documents, labeling and export paperwork carry fixed administrative work.
- Freight has minimum chargeable weights and pallet or carton efficiency thresholds.
Sample MOQ vs commercial MOQ
The first order should validate color, flavor, dosage, solubility, shelf handling and customer response. It does not need to carry the best unit price. The commercial order starts after the formula and forecast are stable, when procurement can choose a pack size and volume tier that reduce cost without creating slow inventory.
Private label adds a packaging MOQ
A private-label project can have two minimums: kilograms of product and units of packaging. Printed film, labels, jars or sachets may require more units than the first production run consumes. Ask who owns the remaining packaging inventory, how it is stored and whether it can be used on the next run.
How to request the right MOQ
Send the target product, application, destination, pack size, expected monthly consumption and whether the order is bulk, custom blend or private label. Ask for the technical minimum, the first efficient freight tier and the next volume price break. Those three numbers are more useful than a single MOQ.
